Tessa ( Sofia Carson) is a true Cinderella, living in the 21st century in A CINDERELLA STORY: IF THE SHOE FITS. The writers did a great job of hitting all of the hallmarks of a Cinderella story in new ways, so if you’re writing a compare and contrast essay this is the one for you! The movie did have a nice ending, just a LOT of iffy moments getting there. “Fairy God-mother” character was a great person and there is no magic in the movie. The “Cinderella” character starts the movie with a very provocative dream dance number that rivals Grease or more. It is funny but in a jaw-droppingly awkward way. The Step mother’s bust was falling out of her gawdy costume 100% of the time. Even with the older girls we were surprise that every time the girls did kicks and flips their black panties showed. (Ages 17, 13, 11, after the boys and little sis were asleep) Sexy dance moves throughout (like not appropriate for young girls. My 3 daughter’s and I watched this for a girls night. This is Cinderella + Grease + Hannah Montana + a burlesque show To stay in the loop on more movies like this, you can sign up for weekly A fart joke, bird poop, and one "hell" earned this movie its PG rating. A few comic pratfalls (a tussle, a mini-fire, the heroine held captive) and a bit of comic suspense move the story along. The stepmother, the stepsisters, and much of the plot are outrageously nonsensical, but it all works. In this story, the Cinderella is the modern-day "Tessa," who loves being a mechanic and who falls for a princely pop-rock star. It's contemporary, upbeat, and energetic. Music and dance take center stage in this fairy tale, but it isn't the classical music one might expect at royal balls and palace soirees. Building upon the success of the other films, this movie engages the target audience by creating a likable, talented young princess-in-waiting, giving her the always-formidable evil stepmother/sisters and then spinning a musical romance in which she steals the heart of a very noble Prince Charming. 3/5.Parents need to know that A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits is the fourth entry in Warner Bros.' Cinderella Story franchise. I know I am being nice with my rating, but I enjoy the ‘A Cinderella Story’ series. I wish the prince, Reed, had more of a presence, but Sofia Carson is a gem even in this lame role. The movie has a solid conclusion, and as I said earlier, the dancing deserves praise. The one saving grace that my sister and I agreed on was that, shockingly, the ending wasn’t half bad. The movie didn’t even try with the plot, which is disappointing. A simple google of her supposed hometown should’ve brought down this apparent lie. Yet, this is a big production for a fancy resort, for their paying guest, and the costar is an up-and-coming new talent… Does that even make sense? Moreover, Tessa’s alternate persona, Bella Snow, has such a terrible backstory. Furthermore, the plot is stupid! The casting must be within the pool of VIP guests who mostly suck. However, none of the songs wowed my sister or me. In all honestly, the dancing was great the choreography was fun, especially the big beach one. Sofia Carson excels at singing and dancing, so I had high hopes. She joins her stepmother and two stepsisters at the Royal Lagoon Resort as help while her stepsisters audition for the production of ‘Cinderella.’ Tessa secretly auditions as Bella Snow with the assistance of a talented makeup artist fairy godmother.įirstly, I love Sofia Carson from “Disney’s Descendants” and was looking forward to watching this. The movie follows Tessa, an aspiring singer and dancer who works as a mechanic in her late father’s shop. I have never seen “If the Shoe Fits” before, and sadly, it’s not good. In honor of the upcoming release of a new installment in the ‘A Cinderella Story’ franchise, my sister and I decided to re-watch the old ones since they are conveniently all on HBO max. ~ Warning!
